Journal Writing

Have you ever thought about the power of the written word? Words can affect us deeply. Books open our minds to new worlds and ideas. In the words of others, we often find solutions to our own problems. And even if you don't consider yourself a writer, YOUR words have power as well. Journaling is a great way to access the knowledge, wisdom and power of your own words.

Keeping a journal is easy. You just need paper, a writing instrument that feels good (or your computer), a bit of time (I've seen students gain great insights in just five minutes of directed writing), and desire. There are no rules. No need to worry about grammar, spelling, punctuation, or sounding good. Your journal is your private place to share your innermost thoughts, desires, truths, needs and emotions without fear of retaliation, scorn or disapproval from anyone. You might discover a hidden talent for writing poetry. The beginnings of a novel may seep through the pages (it did for me). Or that what you thought you were upset about, isn't really it at all. You might find solutions to some of your problems without ever having to leave the comfort of your home. With consistent writing, chances are you will get clearer on who you are and what you need to thrive in the world. You'll access the wealth of knowledge that often lies dormant in our subconscious and superconscious minds. And chances are you'll have some fun as well.

I teach a variety of journaling workshops to help you get started, or to help you expand and deepen your journaling process. I also offer customized workshops, and am available for speaking engagements and private sessions.

Reviews

Based on my experience, I would recommend this CD to anyone working with a health issue, just setting out on a path of self-discovery, or in desperate need of stress relief but without a lot of time or energy (the guided relaxation on track one is 11 minutes during which you DO nothing). It would also make a thoughtful gift for someone in one of these circumstances. People who keep a journal—or would like to—can also benefit from the invitations to listen inward and creatively explore.
